This site is being provided in an effort to send assistance to the victims of the Myanmar Cyclone that hit the weekend of May 3rd, 2008.
Thousands of people sympathize with the devastation that has occurred in Myanmar. Unfortunately, there are so many who just don’t know where this country is, what they can do to help, who to trust with a donation, or even worse... They think it’s on the other side of the world and it won’t effect them. The fact is, we’ve all been touched to some extent by Hurricane Katrina, and we are still feeling the economic strain as our country continues to rebuild. Unfortunately, Myanmar has been devastated on a level that we cannot comprehend.
Imagine with me for a moment...
- How much harder would recovery be if we lived in a country that would not allow foreign aid workers, doctors, missionaries, cleanup crews, morticians and other helpful personnel?
- How difficult it would be to gather water for drinking, cooking and bathing where the dead remain floating and decaying?
- How scarred would you and your children be after seeing the devastation for months and years without relief?
- How secure would you feel, knowing that your government would not be there to provide for you, and worse - they could come anytime and steal from you?
- What would you do if you knew another storm was approaching quickly and you had no way out?
- How angry would you become if you made itthrough the storm, only to watch your loved ones die slowly around you because of starvation, dehydration, and diarrhea because of unsanitary living conditions?
Well... YOU CAN DO SOMETHING TODAY! You can start by doing just a few small things!
- Skip the gourmet coffee drink! Instead, donate the money that you spend for that Grand Mocha Latte! (It’s healthier for you!)
- Skip the dinner and movie this weekend! (Get some fresh air and take your date to the park instead)
- Turn off the cable for the month, donate that money, and stream the shows to your computer for free! (there’s less commercials!)
- Leave the carton of cigarettes at the store (and you can breath easy!)
- Have a garage sale! (and get rid of the stuff you just don’t need)
- Pass on this page or hand out flyers.
Give the people of Myanmar some hope... Please donate today!
